Add papers and sheet sizes

Each stock you hold, priced per 1,000 sheets in every size you buy it, or per roll for large format.

Add the material

  1. Go to Settings › Pricing › Materials.
  2. Click Add material. Give it a Name and pick Paper or Plastic.
  3. Click Add material again to open its page.

Put the weight in the name: “Calisto Silk 150gsm”. There is no separate gsm field. Paper or Plastic only groups the list; it doesn’t change what a job costs.

Price its sheet sizes

Under Sheet sizes, pick a size and click Add size, then enter Your cost per 1,000 sheets. The sizes are the standard ones: SRA4, SRA3, SRA2, SRA1, B3, B2 and B1. Each size takes its own Mark-up; type a mark-up or what you charge and the other fills in. Leave it blank to use your standard mark-up.

Cost is always per 1,000 sheets. If your invoice reads per ream or per sheet, multiply it up before typing it in.

Roll media for large format

Under Roll widths, click Add width and enter it the way the supplier’s invoice reads: the Length (m) and the Total cost. thintent works out the cost per metre. Widths are the standard ones, from 24 inches to 60. One material can carry both sheet and roll prices.

Link it to a press

A size only shows on a quote once a press runs it. Open the press under Printers and tick the size under Stocks it runs. Adding a material from inside a quote links it to that line’s press for you.

From inside a quote

The Material dropdown on an auto-configured line ends with + Add a material…, and the Sheet size dropdown with + Price a sheet size…. If a stock is already priced in another size, a + Link button lets the press run that size without typing the price again. The Material dropdown lists only the stocks the line’s press runs; + Use a stock you already have… ticks one you’ve priced but not ticked for that press, in one click.

Minimum order

If your merchant won't sell fewer than a certain number of sheets, put it in a size's Min order column. Tick Charge it and a job needing fewer is costed at the minimum, since that's what you'll buy: “100 sheets (minimum order 500) × £1,528.00/1000”. Leave it unticked and the job is costed on what it uses, with a warning on the quote that it's under the minimum.

Paper the customer brings

Pick Supplied by customer in the Material dropdown, choose the sheet size, and say what they’re bringing if you like. The paper costs £0, the material row has no mark-up, and the readout changes to Sheets to supply so you can tell them how many to send. Sheet-fed presses only.
