Price your finishes once, pick them on every quote

Save what drilling, laminating, creasing and the rest cost you, with your mark-up, and a quote prices each one for you.

Add a finish

  1. Go to Settings › Pricing › Finishes.
  2. Click Add finish. Give it a Name and say how it's Charged: Per 1000 items, Per 1000 sheets or Per m² (large format).
  3. On its page, under Price, enter the Setup cost (£) (once per job) and the cost per 1000 (or per m²). Set a Mark-up %, or type what you charge into the box beside it and the mark-up is worked out for you. Add a Minimum charge (£) if you have one. Then Save changes.

It works like every other price in thintent: your cost, with your mark-up on top. Leave the mark-up blank and it uses your standard one. Drilling that costs you £2 to set up plus £1 per 1000, at 1400%, sells for £30 + £15 per 1000. With a £45 minimum, 500 items come to £45 and 5,000 to £105.

Only know what you charge? Enter it as the cost and set the mark-up to 0. For a one-off charge like a cutting forme, enter just a Setup cost and leave the rate blank; it's then charged per job.

Per 1000 sheets is for sheet-fed work only, and per m² for large-format (roll) work only, so each only shows on lines it can price. On the quote is what the customer reads, such as “Drilled two holes.” Leave it blank to show the name. Listed under is the heading it goes under, Finishing unless you say otherwise.

How long it takes

Under How long it takes, a Setup time (mins) and a time per 1000 (or per m²) are optional. They never change the price. A job with a timed finish shows it on the job sheet under Finishing, worked out for that job's run: drilling at 5 minutes' setup plus 3 minutes per 1000 is about 20 minutes on 5,000. Change a finish's times and quotes and jobs still to be made are re-timed, at the same prices; a job that is ready for dispatch keeps the times it was planned with. How long a job takes has the detail.

All your finishing shares one row on the day board. How long it runs in a day is Finishing hours a day, at the foot of the Finishes page: whole hours from 1 to 24, or blank for 7.

Use it on a quote

On an auto-configured line, under Finishing & extras, click Search your finishes… and pick it: the ones you use most are listed first, or type any word of its name or description (a spelling slip is fine). It arrives as an ordinary extra: its cost in the Cost (£) box, its mark-up in Full breakdown, its setup and minimum noted underneath. Change the mark-up or the price there like any other part, and Set every mark-up to covers it too. Your saved finish isn't touched.

Changing or retiring a finish

Editing a finish never changes a quote that already has it: each quote keeps the figures it was given. Stop offering takes a finish out of the list on new quotes without affecting the ones already sent.
