Packaging: let the quote count the boxes

Save each box or bag you pack into, with what it costs and how many fit, and a quote works out how many a job needs at every quantity.

Add a box

  1. Go to Settings › Pricing › Packaging.
  2. Click Add packaging. Give it a Name and say how many items it Fits in a box.
  3. On its page, enter the Cost per box (£) and a Mark-up % (or type what you charge per box). Time per box (mins) is optional. Then Save changes.

A quote counts the boxes from the quantity: the quantity divided by how many fit, rounded up, since a part-filled box is still a box. A box that holds 500 and costs you 30p is 3 boxes (90p) for 1,200 items.

Use it on a quote

On an auto-configured line, under Packaging, click Search your packaging… and pick it, or add a + One-off box. Each quantity the line offers shows how many boxes it takes. Change Fits for this job if the item is a different size (500 A5s fit where 250 A4s do). The boxes are priced into the line like any other part, with their own row in Full breakdown.

Packaging is hidden from the customer unless you tick On the quote. Most shops put it in the price without a word.

On the job sheet

The job sheet lists each line's packaging under PACKING, with how many boxes and how many to a box, and the packing time when the box is timed. That time counts towards Takes about too.

On the day board

A job’s packing is its own card on the day board, naming the boxes, such as “3 × A4 Corrugated Box”, and booked on the Packing row. How long you pack in a day is Packing hours a day, at the foot of the Packaging page: whole hours from 1 to 24, or blank for 7.
